Facilities in Rome

Loyola University Maryland utilizes the Rome campus of The Catholic University of America, within a beautiful 19th-century building owned by the Vincentians, The Congregation of the Mission, a religious order founded by St. Vincent de Paul. Through a partnership with St. John's University, Loyola University students benefit from

Building Hours

  • Ground Floor. Students have access to the ground floor from 8am-11pm every day. Computer lab and library hours are more restrictive and should be checked regularly.

  • Second Floor. Students have access to the 2nd floor classrooms and the program office when class is in session, during posted office hours, as well as usually from 10am-7pm, Monday-Thursday.

  • Residence Floors. Non-residents can access the residence floors only accompanied by a resident. This access is limited to the hours between 7am and midnight.



  • The Building

    Loyola University Rome is located within the St. John's University building in the Prati neighborhood of Rome, a 15min walk from the historic Spanish Steps. The Metro stop "Lepanto" is located just one block away.

    A Hallway

    The building was built in the late 1800s and still retains its picturesque hallways.


    The Aula Magna

    Larger classes are held in the Aula Magna.


    Other Classrooms

    Smaller classes are held in classrooms similar to this one.


    Computer Use

    The entire facility is equipped for wireless internet access; students can make an appointment to have their laptop configured during the first two weeks after arrival. Students have access to a computer lab as well.


    Library

    There is a small library for quiet study space.


    Student Lounge

    A small student lounge is available for relaxation, conversation, or improving Italian skills by watching Italian television.
